This ground beef potato pie delivers rich, hearty flavor in every bite. It creates a warm, comforting meal that fits family dinners or a cozy night in.
Ingredients
1 lb (500 g) ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, or corn)
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup beef broth
1 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
3–4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 tbsp butter
1/4–1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
1. Boil peeled potatoes in salted water for 15–20 minutes until tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk until smooth
2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat
3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until soft and fragrant
4. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and seasonings. Simmer for 8–10 minutes until slightly thickened
5. Add mixed vegetables and cook for a few minutes
6. Transfer the beef mixture into a baking dish
7. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the top
8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes until lightly golden
9. Let the pie rest for a few minutes before serving
Notes
Use leftover mashed potatoes to save time
Add shredded cheese to the topping for extra richness
Do not overcrowd the skillet to improve browning
Swap Worcestershire sauce with soy sauce if needed
Substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken for a lighter version
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days
