Ingredients
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Butter (for frosting)
Cocoa powder (for frosting)
Powdered sugar (for frosting)
Milk or cream (for frosting)
Vanilla extract (for frosting)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F)
Grease or line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper
In a bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy
Add egg, vanilla extract, and sour cream; mix well
Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt into the wet mixture; stir until a thick dough forms
Fold in chocolate chips if using
Spread dough evenly into the prepared pan
Bake for 30 minutes until golden and firm
Let cool completely before cutting into bars
Optionally prepare and spread chocolate frosting before serving
Notes
For a creamier texture, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Chocolate frosting is optional; adjust based on desired sweetness.
