A rich, flaky pastry filled with smooth cream cheese and sugar. This easy recipe uses crescent roll dough for a quick, nostalgic breakfast treat perfect for busy mornings or weekend brunches.
Ingredients
2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
1 egg white
½ cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk
½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
Unroll one can of crescent dough into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish
Flatten the remaining dough to fit on top of the bottom layer, creating a sandwich
Mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract until smooth
Spread cream cheese mixture over the bottom dough layer
Brush the top dough layer with egg white
Cut the top dough into 8 even squares perpendicular to the seams
Beat egg and brush over the squares
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden
Mix powdered sugar, milk, and ½ tsp vanilla extract for glaze
Drizzle glaze over baked danishes and let set
Notes
Use soft, room-temperature cream cheese for smooth mixing
For a non-greasy finish, grease the baking dish with butter
Let danishes cool slightly before cutting to avoid melting
