Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
½ tsp salt
½ cup milk
2 large eggs
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp milk
½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and salt.
In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Add apples to the wet ingredients and gently toss until coated.
Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients, folding until just mixed.
Drop spoonfuls of batter onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until golden and risen.
While fritters cool slightly, mix powdered sugar with 2–3 tbsp milk and ½ tsp vanilla extract in a small bowl.
Dip each fritter into the glaze and place back on parchment paper to set.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days. For a crispier texture, work quickly when handling the batter and avoid overmixing. Substitute ¼ tsp ground cardamom for nutmeg as an alternative spice.
Glaze consistency can be adjusted with additional milk or powdered sugar depending on desired thickness.
