Ingredients

4 hot dogs

8 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)

4 slices American cheese (or preferred cheese)

4 tablespoons butter

Optional toppings: ketchup, mustard, relish, chopped onions

Instructions

1. Butter one side of each bread slice

2. Place a slice of cheese on unbuttered side of four slices

3. Add a hot dog on top of the cheese

4. Add another slice of cheese

5. Top with remaining bread, buttered side up

6. Heat skillet over medium heat

7. Cook sandwiches 3-4 minutes per side until golden and cheese melts

8. Serve immediately

Notes

Use a non-stick skillet for best results

Add garlic or onion powder to butter for extra flavor

Ensure hot dogs are pre-cooked before assembling

Experiment with different cheese types
