Ingredients
1 cup butter, melted
1½ cups brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2½ cups all-purpose flour
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
½ cup chopped pecans
3–4 oz German chocolate, chopped
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper
Whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth
Add egg and egg yolk, mixing well, then stir in vanilla extract
Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt
Mix wet and dry ingredients until just combined
Press dough into the prepared pan in an even layer
Sprinkle coconut and pecans over the dough
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden
Let cool completely, then cut into bars
Notes
For best flavor, use real German chocolate (dark chocolate with at least 60% cocoa)
Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days
Bars can be refrigerated or frozen for longer storage
